Question and Answer time:
1. Question: What made you want to start writing?
Answer: I used to be a teacher but struggled physically because of my autoimmune conditions so I had to switch careers. At first, I wrote down family stories for my own children, but it gradually shifted into making books about my ancestors, resulting in historical fiction novels.
2. Question: What is your favorite subject to write about?
Answer: Definitely historical fiction. I love learning about different places and times. It fascinates me to hear and read stories of everyday people and how they overcame their trials and struggles.
3. Question: How do you come up with your main characters?
Answer: All of my stories are based on real characters and or events. I love doing research to get to know people better, then try my best to portray them the right way through my stories.
4. Question: How do you find information on your characters if they were real people?
Answer: I first search online to see if there are any articles or information about them through places like family search or ancestry. I spend a lot of time at the library using the resources and books available for that person and/or the time period they were in. I try to visit the place the person I'm writing about is from, ask local historians, search for records, and visit museums.
5. Question: If you could live in any time period, when would it be?
Answer: That's a hard question. Minus the lack of women's rights and indoor heating and cooling, I think the late 18th century in America. Although it was a crazy time to be alive, I love how passionate and eager the patriots were for the cause of liberty. Plus, I really liked the fancy dresses.
Tracy loves hearing form her readers.
